Mexicana Takes Delivery of Its Tenth Aircraft, Reaching Half of Its Planned Embraer E2 Fleet. Mexicana has taken delivery of its tenth aircraft, an Embraer 190-E2 registered as XA-MXK, at its MRO Hangar located at Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) in Santa Lucía, State of Mexico. This addition brings the number of Embraer 190-E2 jets in the carrier’s fleet to five, as part of a broader program to introduce 20 Embraer E2 family aircraft.

The arrival comes just days after the delivery of the ninth unit, marking the halfway point for Mexicana‘s planned Embraer E2 fleet integration. Prior to commencing commercial operations, the new aircraft must complete standard regulatory approvals required by the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) before entering regular passenger service.

This fleet expansion will enable Mexicana to progressively scale up capacity, strengthen routes, increase flight frequencies, and meet regional connectivity needs across Mexico. The fleet growth also drives economic activity linked to aviation, facilitating passenger mobility, trade, and tourism.

Following this delivery, Mexicana‘s active fleet comprises five Embraer 195-E2 and five Embraer 190-E2 aircraft, configured in a 2+2 seating layout for 132 and 108 passengers, respectively. These next-generation jets offer enhanced passenger comfort, superior fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and low noise footprints in airport communities.

Mexicana‘s fleet expansion aligns with a long-term strategy aimed at reinforcing domestic aviation and delivering accessible, efficient air travel across Mexico.
