Operating out of Juan Santamaría International Airport, the airline maintains the largest capacity share in the country, serving over 80 destinations with more than 90 weekly direct flights, totaling 11,000 annual flights and over 2.1 million seats per year.

In 2026, Avianca accounts for 73% of total seat capacity on intra-Central American international flights (excluding Panama). Its local operations support over 500 direct jobs with a 100% Costa Rican flight crew complement. Viviana Martin, Country Officer at Avianca Costa Rica, emphasized that the milestone reflects the airline’s long-term commitment to job creation and regional air integration.

On the sustainability front, Avianca was awarded the Bandera Azul Ecológica 2024 in the Climate Change category and maintains a strategic partnership with the MarViva Foundation to train coastal communities. Additionally, its loyalty program, LifeMiles, marks over 15 years in Costa Rica, backed by commercial and credit card partnerships across the country’s leading financial institutions.
