Sucursal Colombia has submitted a formal application to civil aviation authorities to modify its existing operating permit. The proposed flight routing connects San José (SJO) with Bogotá (BOG) and extends to Buenos Aires (EZE), along with matching return sectors. The airline plans to run 14 weekly frequencies along the corridor. Crucially, the operational framework relies on fifth freedom traffic rights, granting Avianca Costa Rica full commercial rights to sell tickets and transport local passengers, freight, and postal mail on the intermediate segment between Colombia and Argentina.
Flight operations will be executed using single-aisle aircraft from the Airbus narrowbody family, specifically incorporating Airbus A319, Airbus A320, and Airbus A320neo variants. The deployment of these distinct capacity types will allow the airline to adjust seating availability dynamically based on demand fluctuations across the three connected international markets, thereby improving overall fleet productivity.

If approved by aviation regulators, the additional flights will further strengthen El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá as a major regional connecting hub. The route will seamlessly link passenger flows originating at Juan Santamaría International Airport in Costa Rica with Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Ezeiza. Additionally, adding 14 weekly frequencies will expand overall seat inventory on the busy Colombia–Argentina route, increasing travel options for leisure, corporate, and cargo traffic across the region.
