Avianca Cargo Leads Flower Exports to the U.S. in Record Mother’s Day Season.Avianca Cargo has strengthened its position as the leading air carrier of flowers to the United States during the 2026 Mother’s Day season, transporting 42% of all Colombian flower exports to that market. Moreover, when including Ecuador, at least one out of every three flowers from the region was shipped on its network. Consequently, this performance marks the largest season in the company’s history, reinforcing its dominance in one of the most demanding logistics windows of the year.

This achievement was driven by a combination of operational efficiency and capacity expansion. On the one hand, Avianca Cargo operated a fleet of nine dedicated freighters—two more than in 2025—while increasing aircraft utilization by 15% through optimized ground times. On the other hand, the airline complemented its own fleet with leased capacity to meet peak demand without disrupting other markets. As a result, it operated more than 330 flights during the season, with peak days reaching approximately 24 daily departures carrying only flowers, equivalent to nearly 24 million stems in just 24 hours. In total, the airline transported over 330 million flowers, surpassing 21,000 tons.

In addition, infrastructure enhancements played a critical role in supporting this масштабная operation. In Miami, ground staff increased by 20% and a new inspection area was introduced in coordination with U.S. authorities to streamline processing times. Meanwhile, in Bogotá and Medellín, cargo capacity grew by 35% and 41%, respectively, with Medellín accounting for nearly 24% of total operations. Therefore, Avianca Cargo not only met record demand, but also strengthened the entire logistics chain, supported by collaborative initiatives that ensure Colombian flowers reach global markets efficiently and on time.
