The aircraft, powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines, is the first of 15 A321XLRs ordered by Saudia. With a range of up to 4,700 nautical miles, the aircraft will allow the airline to open new international routes using a more efficient narrowbody platform while maintaining a premium passenger experience. Traditionally, many of these routes required larger widebody aircraft, but the A321XLR provides greater operational flexibility and lower operating costs. In addition, the aircraft features a premium low-density configuration with 24 fully flat Business Class seats offering direct aisle access, alongside 120 Economy Class seats. The cabin also includes Airbus’ Airspace interior, oversized overhead bins, advanced lighting systems, and one of the quietest cabin environments in its category.

Furthermore, the delivery strengthens a partnership between Airbus and Saudia that dates back more than four decades, beginning with the airline’s first Airbus A300 delivery in 1984. Today, Saudia operates flights to more than 100 destinations across four continents and plans to use the A321XLR as a key tool for future expansion. The aircraft also supports sustainability goals by reducing fuel consumption per seat by approximately 30% compared to previous-generation aircraft. Airbus additionally confirmed that the A321XLR is designed to operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with a long-term objective of reaching 100% SAF capability by 2030, reinforcing the aviation industry’s commitment to lower emissions and greener operations.
