Avianca to Equip 50 Airbus A320neo Aircraft with CFM LEAP-1A Engines. Abra Group, the parent company of Avianca and GOL, has announced a new agreement with CFM International to equip 50 Airbus A320neo aircraft from Avianca’s outstanding order of 134 A320neo Family jets with CFM LEAP-1A engines. The contract also includes a comprehensive long-term support package covering spare engines and maintenance services, while extending support to GOL’s Boeing 737 MAX fleet.

According to Abra Group, the agreement will enhance the operational efficiency of its airlines by improving fleet reliability, reducing maintenance costs, and increasing fuel efficiency. “These agreements reinforce our position as the largest operator of CFM-powered aircraft in the region and support our strategy of building a strong, efficient, and competitive aviation platform across Latin America,” said Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Abra Group.
With the addition of these new engines, the combined current and future Airbus A320neo fleet of Avianca and Boeing 737 MAX fleet of GOL will exceed 650 LEAP-powered aircraft across Abra Group’s airlines. The company also operates 176 aircraft equipped with CFM56 engines, further strengthening its position as Latin America’s largest CFM engine operator.

CFM International noted that the agreement expands its long-standing strategic partnership with Abra Group. The manufacturer highlighted that it has delivered more than 10,000 LEAP engines worldwide and continues introducing improvements to enhance durability, reduce maintenance costs, and maximize aircraft availability. Through this new agreement, both CFM and Abra Group reaffirm their commitment to building a more efficient and sustainable fleet while supporting the continued growth of Avianca and GOL across Latin America.
