Volaris requests Guadalajara–Medellín route. Mexican airline Volaris has submitted a request to Colombia’s Civil Aeronautics Authority to add a new international passenger, cargo and mail route connecting Mexico and Colombia. The proposal would establish flights between Guadalajara (GDL) and Medellín (MDE), strengthening air connectivity between the two countries.

According to documentation published by the Directorate of Air Transport and Aerocommercial Affairs of Colombia’s Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics, Volaris is seeking authorization to operate the Guadalajara–Medellín–Guadalajara route with three weekly flights, under third- and fourth-freedom traffic rights.

The application will now enter the corresponding administrative process and will be published for three days for interested parties. Colombia’s Civil Aeronautics Authority clarified that this stage does not constitute final approval, but rather the beginning of the procedure that could eventually allow the new route to be incorporated into Volaris’ operating authorization.
