TagAirlines has announced the reactivation of its regional flight route linking Mérida, Flores, and Guatemala, reinforcing connectivity between southeastern Mexico and Central America. Scheduled to begin operations on November 3, 2026, with an initial operating window extending through January 30, 2027, the service will feature three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using ATR 72-500 aircraft with a capacity for 72 passengers. The restoration of this route provides a direct air connection for passengers traveling between the state of Yucatán and Guatemala, while expanding TagAirlines‘ regional offering.

The route holds significant tourism value by facilitating multi-destination itineraries across major cultural landmarks of the Maya World. Travelers departing from Mérida can access key attractions such as Chichén Itzá, while flights to Flores serve as the gateway to Tikal before proceeding to Guatemala. For the airline, the connection creates new opportunities to drive multi-destination travel and facilitate the movement of tourists, business travelers, and students between both markets. TagAirlines regards Yucatán as a strategic focus within its international expansion, driven by growing tourism activity and its role as a regional cultural gateway.
The route’s return comes amid steady passenger growth for Yucatán’s aviation sector. During the first seven months of 2026, Mérida International Airport handled over 2.36 million passengers, representing a 6% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Additionally, Guatemala stands among the top Latin American source markets for visitors entering Yucatán. TagAirlines noted that reactivating the service was made possible through joint efforts with tourism boards, trade partners, and airport authorities, reinforcing its overarching strategy to consolidate its position as the premier airline of the Maya World.
