Argentina Advances Aviation Modernization with New Meteorological Services Framework. The Argentine government has introduced a key reform in its aviation sector through a presidential decree that enables Empresa Argentina de Navegación Aérea S.A. (EANA) to provide Aeronautical Meteorological Services (MET) either directly or through third-party providers. This measure is part of a broader modernization strategy and grants EANA greater flexibility in sourcing critical weather information necessary for safe and efficient air operations. Until now, these services were exclusively provided by Servicio Meteorológico Nacional.

Under the new framework, EANA will be authorized to contract national or international providers capable of delivering accurate and reliable meteorological data for aviation purposes. At the same time, Administración Nacional de Aviación Civil (ANAC) will remain responsible for regulating, supervising, and overseeing the provision of MET services, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. To guarantee continuity, the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional will continue providing these services for up to 180 business days following the decree’s implementation.

Ultimately, the reform aims to enhance operational safety, optimize resource allocation, and foster a more modern and competitive aviation sector in the country.
