Transport Commission Visits Construction of Latin America Cargo City’s New Logistics Terminal. Members of Uruguay’s Transport, Communications and Public Works Commission visited the construction site of the new e-commerce logistics terminal being developed by Latin America Cargo City at the former passenger terminal area of Carrasco International Airport. The project aims to strengthen the country’s logistics capabilities and respond to the sustained growth in parcel processing across the region.

The visit included the participation of Commission President Juan José Olaizola, Deputy Secretary Patricia Fabra, and lawmakers Carlos Reutor, Marianita Fonseca, and Mauricio Viera, who were able to review the progress of a project considered strategic for Uruguay’s logistics infrastructure. The new terminal represents an investment of more than US$10 million in infrastructure, equipment, and new operational processes focused on boosting the growth of e-commerce operations in Uruguay. The project will also expand regional distribution capabilities through more than 2,100 storage positions and infrastructure designed for future growth.

During the tour, Bruno Guella, General Manager of Latin America Cargo City, and Mariela Propitti, Commercial Manager of the company, presented technical details of the project, including operational spaces and the technology that will be incorporated to streamline and optimize logistics operations related to e-commerce and air cargo. The new logistics terminal will feature 5,000 square meters of operational space and is designed to support the strong growth experienced by the sector in recent years.

In this context, the company highlighted that April 2026 marked a historic record with more than 290,000 packages processed in a single month, representing volumes five times higher than those recorded in previous years. Through this project, Latin America Cargo City continues strengthening the multimodal logistics platform of Carrasco International Airport, reinforcing Uruguay’s position as a strategic regional distribution hub for e-commerce and air cargo operations.
