Iberia Delays Resumption of Venezuela Flights Due to Operational Congestion at Valencia Airport.Iberia has announced that it will not resume its regular flights to Venezuela on Thursday as previously scheduled, citing ongoing operational congestion at Valencia’s Arturo Michelena International Airport. The airport has been serving as an alternate gateway following the damage sustained by Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía after the earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24. The resulting operational constraints continue to affect the country’s commercial aviation network and have prevented the Spanish carrier from restoring its normal services.

According to Iberia, the airline is working closely with Venezuelan authorities and airport officials to resume operations as soon as safety and operational conditions allow. In the meantime, the airline has extended its flexible travel policy for customers affected by the continued suspension of flights. Passengers may change their travel dates without penalty, modify their itinerary to depart from or arrive in Bogotá or Panama City instead of Venezuela, or request a ticket refund.
