JetSMART llevará Starlink a toda su flota y será la primera ultra low cost de Sudamérica con Wi-Fi de alta velocidad

JetSMART to Equip Its Entire Fleet with Starlink. JetSMART has announced an agreement with Starlink, the satellite internet network developed by SpaceX, to provide high-speed broadband connectivity across its entire fleet. With this initiative, the airline will become the first ultra-low-cost carrier in South America to offer high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi, allowing passengers to stay connected throughout their journey with an experience comparable to a terrestrial internet network.

The rollout will begin in 2027 and includes the installation of Starlink terminals on all JetSMART Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. Once operational, passengers will be able to browse the internet, use messaging apps, access social media, make video calls, work remotely, and stream high-definition content from takeoff to landing, regardless of their destination. The service will be available across JetSMART’s network of more than 90 domestic and international routes throughout South America. By introducing low-latency, high-speed connectivity, the airline aims to further enhance the travel experience while meeting the growing demand for reliable onboard internet access.

Beyond improving the passenger experience, Starlink will also strengthen JetSMART’s operational capabilities by enabling real-time communications for pilots, cabin crews, maintenance personnel, and ground operations teams. The system is expected to improve operational coordination, support predictive maintenance through live data transmission, and enhance the airline’s ability to respond efficiently to operational disruptions.

The Starlink deployment is part of a broader initiative led by Indigo Partners, the investment group behind JetSMART, Wizz Air, Frontier Airlines, Volaris, and Cebu Pacific. Across the group’s portfolio, more than 1,000 aircraft are expected to be equipped with the technology, making it one of the largest in-flight connectivity programs in the aviation industry. JetSMART Chairman Bill Franke said the partnership will deliver fast and reliable internet service across the group’s airlines, while CEO and founder Estuardo Ortiz described the project as another milestone in transforming air travel in South America through innovation and advanced technology.
