The new aircraft, identified as ATR 72-600 MSN 1725, began its international ferry flight from Toulouse with technical stops in Iceland, Canada, and the Bahamas before its expected arrival in Bogotá. According to the airline, the route was carefully planned under strict technical and safety standards to ensure the proper delivery and entry into service of the aircraft.

Óscar Zuluaga Castaño, President of SATENA, stated that every new aircraft represents another opportunity to close connectivity gaps in Colombia, especially in regions where air transportation is essential for communities and regional economic development. He emphasized that the new ATR will strengthen operations in territories where aviation plays a critical role in tourism, trade, medical access, and social integration.

With this addition, the aircraft becomes the sixth ATR 72 in the airline’s fleet and increases the total number of ATR aircraft operated by SATENA to 15 across different regions of the country. The airline explained that this type of aircraft provides greater operational efficiency and transportation capacity for regional routes, helping optimize seat availability and improve national air connectivity.
