Avianca Expands Network with New Routes to Fort Lauderdale. Avianca, part of the Abra Group, has announced the launch of ticket sales for two new nonstop routes connecting Colombia and the United States. The new services will link Barranquilla and Cali with Fort Lauderdale, further strengthening the airline’s international network and expanding connectivity opportunities between the two countries in response to growing travel demand across the region.

Through this expansion, Avianca aims not only to increase its presence in the North American market but also to offer a more flexible travel experience tailored to passenger needs. According to David Alemán, Avianca’s Sales Director for Colombia and South America, the new routes will be supported by a service proposition that includes options ranging from Economy to Business Class, along with additional services that allow travelers to customize their journey. This approach reinforces the airline’s strategy of differentiation and competitiveness within the regional aviation market.
- ✈ The Barranquilla–Fort Lauderdale route will operate as flight AV0228, departing at 4:25 p.m. and arriving at 8:20 p.m.
- ✈ While the return service, flight AV0229, will depart at 10:10 p.m. and arrive at 12:05 a.m.
Operations are scheduled to begin on July 15, 2026. Meanwhile, the Cali–Fort Lauderdale route will operate daily.
- ✈ With flight AV0236 departing at 1:30 a.m. and arriving at 6:25 a.m.
- ✈ The return flight, AV0237, will depart at 8:55 p.m. and arrive at 11:45 p.m., with service commencing on July 16, 2026.

Currently, Avianca operates more than 400 weekly flights across North America, connecting 14 cities in Latin America with more than 80 destinations throughout the Americas and Europe. This latest expansion further strengthens the airline’s global network while reinforcing Fort Lauderdale’s role as a key strategic gateway within its international operations. Tickets are now available through all official Avianca sales channels.
