The agreement brings together Canada’s largest airline and one of Latin America’s leading aviation groups, which includes Avianca and GOL. The proposed partnership is designed to enhance connectivity between Canada and key markets in Latin America while providing passengers with greater access to international destinations. Through expanded codeshare agreements and deeper commercial cooperation, Air Canada and Abra Group plan to offer more seamless travel options and improved network coordination. The agreement also includes plans to establish a Joint Business Agreement on selected Canada–Latin America routes, allowing the airlines to better align schedules, sales activities and distribution strategies.

In addition to network growth, the partnership aims to significantly improve the customer experience. Travelers could benefit from smoother connections, coordinated airport services, aligned baggage policies and enhanced disruption management. The companies also intend to strengthen cooperation between their frequent flyer programs, creating more opportunities for members to earn and redeem rewards across both networks.

The agreement reflects the growing importance of the Canada–South America market, where Air Canada continues to expand its presence with services to destinations such as Lima, Santiago, Rio de Janeiro and soon Quito. Furthermore, both groups will explore opportunities to increase collaboration in the cargo sector, supporting trade flows across the Americas. If approved, the partnership would create one of the most comprehensive aviation networks in the Western Hemisphere, bringing greater connectivity, efficiency and value to passengers, businesses and cargo customers alike.
