JetSMART Launches New Bogotá–Cúcuta Route. JetSMART Airlines, South America’s fastest-growing ultra-low-cost carrier and the winner of the Skytrax 2025 award as the best airline in its category, has announced the launch of a new route connecting Bogotá and Cúcuta. Developed in partnership with Aeropuertos de Oriente, the new service will operate with 10 weekly frequencies and offer approximately 3,720 seats per week. The route is expected to improve connectivity between Colombia’s capital and Norte de Santander, while also providing easier access to cities such as Barranquilla, Cali, Cartagena, Medellín, Montería, Pereira and Santa Marta through Bogotá’s extensive network.

The new operation marks another step in JetSMART’s expansion strategy in Colombia and strengthens its presence in Cúcuta, a city that already benefits from the airline’s service to Medellín. Currently, JetSMART operates nine weekly flights on the Medellín–Cúcuta route, offering more than 3,300 seats and having transported over 115,000 passengers since the route was launched. With an average load factor exceeding 84%, the route has demonstrated strong demand and highlighted the growing importance of affordable air travel options in the region.

According to projections, the new Bogotá–Cúcuta service will carry more than 115,000 passengers during its first year of operation. The route is expected to support tourism, business travel and regional development by improving access to one of Colombia’s most strategically important border regions. Mario García, Country Manager of JetSMART in Colombia, stated that the airline remains committed to connecting regions with strong growth potential and real travel demand. He emphasized that Cúcuta plays a key role in economic activity and cross-border exchange, making it an important destination within JetSMART’s network. Through this new service, the airline aims to provide more travel options while contributing to the economic and social development of the region.
