According to Jorge Jiménez, Wingo’s Vice President of Commercial and Planning, the new route strengthens Bucaramanga’s position within the airline’s network and responds to growing demand for international connectivity from the region. Local authorities highlighted the route’s potential to boost tourism, trade, investment, and cultural exchange between Santander and Aruba. With the addition of Aruba, Bucaramanga now has six direct destinations within Wingo’s network, including Bogotá, Santa Marta, Medellín, Cartagena, and Barranquilla. The expansion further consolidates Bucaramanga as Wingo’s third-largest operational market in Colombia, behind Bogotá and Medellín. Between January and May 2026, the airline transported more than 77,000 passengers on routes to and from the city, underscoring its growing importance within Wingo’s domestic and international operations.
