United acelera la instalación de Starlink y lanza su primer vuelo transatlántico con Wi-Fi de alta velocidad

United Accelerates Starlink Installation and Launches First Transatlantic Flight with High-Speed Wi-Fi. United Airlines continues to advance its onboard connectivity transformation with the expansion of Starlink technology across its fleet. The airline recently operated its first transatlantic widebody flight equipped with the high-speed internet service, connecting Newark/New York and London aboard a Boeing 777-200. The milestone marks the beginning of the deployment of Starlink on nearly 60 widebody aircraft scheduled for installation this year, while the carrier expects to complete the rollout across its entire long-haul fleet by next summer.

Powered by Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellite network, United will be able to provide faster, more stable, and more reliable internet connectivity, even in areas where inflight connectivity has traditionally been limited, including oceans, polar regions, and remote locations. More than 400 aircraft in the airline’s fleet are already equipped with the technology, and United expects to have approximately 1,000 aircraft fitted with Starlink before the end of the year. Passengers can expect to find Starlink-equipped Boeing 777-200 aircraft on international routes linking United’s major hubs with destinations such as London, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich, Tokyo, and Buenos Aires.

The implementation of Starlink complements United’s broader technology modernization strategy, which includes more than 167,000 individual seatback screens installed across nearly 900 aircraft. The enhanced connectivity will allow passengers to work in real time, make video calls, access streaming entertainment platforms, play online games, and connect multiple devices simultaneously throughout their journey. Additionally, the service will be offered free of charge to MileagePlus members, further strengthening United’s value proposition and setting a new benchmark for inflight connectivity in the global airline industry.
