JetSMART Relocates Pereira Flights to Armenia and Strengthens Flexibility Policies After Regional Emergency. Following the temporary closure of Matecaña International Airport in Pereira due to the August 10 earthquake, JetSMART will temporarily shift its operations to El Edén International Airport in Armenia. The measure will take effect between August 24 and August 30, 2026, initially, to maintain crucial air connectivity for the Eje Cafetero region.

During this operational shift, the ultra-low-cost carrier will operate 2 to 3 daily flights between Armenia and El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, as well as 1 daily flight connecting Armenia with Rafael Núñez International Airport in Cartagena. These frequencies aim to provide uninterrupted travel options for passengers in Pereira and neighboring areas while authorities assess the damaged terminal infrastructure.
To support affected passengers, JetSMART expanded its special flexibility policy for tickets booked between August 10 and August 31, 2026, for travel to, from, or via Pereira and Cali. Passengers can reschedule their flights on the same route without penalties or fare differences for travel through December 1, 2026. Additionally, users can request rerouting to other domestic destinations subject to availability, or receive a full refund via their original payment method or a JetSMART Gift Card.

In addition to passenger support, JetSMART is coordinating with local and national government agencies, emergency response organizations, and foundations to deploy its operational capacity for delivering humanitarian aid to impacted communities. The airline continues to monitor the situation alongside aviation authorities to update its flight schedules as needed.
