With this expansion, JetSMART will offer 2,604 weekly seats between Medellín and Punta Cana. The higher frequency will also enhance connectivity for southwestern Colombia, allowing travelers departing from Cali to connect seamlessly through Medellín to reach the Dominican Republic on any day of the week. This strategy reinforces Medellín‘s role as JetSMART‘s second major operational base in Colombia and a key hub linking regional domestic points with international markets.

Since its inception, the route has demonstrated robust passenger demand, with JetSMART having already transported over 60,000 passengers to and from Punta Cana in Colombia. The shift to daily operations aims to meet this growing volume while providing greater seat availability under the airline’s ultra-low-cost business model. Additionally, passengers can earn and redeem AAdvantage miles, adding further value to the air link between Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
