SATENA Expands San Gil Bogotá Connectivity via Medellín.

SATENA announced the availability of flights on the San Gil–Bogotá route with a stopover in Medellín, in response to sustained tourism growth in Santander and increasing demand for regional travel. This combined operation aims to strengthen air connectivity between northeastern Colombia and the capital while ensuring a more efficient and demand-driven service model. According to Óscar Zuluaga Castaño, the initiative supports a sustainable operation in a route that continues to consolidate.

Operetions:

Flights from San Gil to Bogotá will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while the Bogotá–San Gil segment will be available on Fridays, aligning capacity with peak travel periods. The route will be operated in two segments: San Gil–Medellín on Twin Otter aircraft, with a capacity of 19 passengers and suitable for challenging operational conditions, and Medellín–Bogotá on ATR 42 or ATR 72 aircraft, offering greater capacity and efficiency on higher-demand routes. This structure allows SATENA to optimize connectivity while maintaining operational continuity.

The measure not only improves efficiency but also ensures continued service to a destination that has gained importance due to its tourism activity and regional connectivity. San Gil has become a strategic point within SATENA’s network, facilitating travel for tourism, business, and access to essential services. With fares starting at COP 441,190 per one-way ticket, including checked and carry-on baggage, the airline reinforces its commitment to regional integration and economic development, particularly in areas where air transport is essential.
