Iberia to temporarily suspend direct flights to Cuba from June. Iberia has announced the temporary suspension of its direct flights to Cuba starting in June, citing the ongoing situation on the island, which has significantly impacted travel demand in recent months. Despite this decision, the airline will keep ticket sales open for flights from November, when it plans to resume the route between Madrid and Cuba, subject to operational conditions.

In the coming weeks, Iberia will gradually scale down its operations. The airline will operate three weekly frequencies during April, followed by a reduction to two flights per week in May. From June onwards, direct services will be fully suspended. As an alternative, passengers will be able to travel to Cuba via Panama, connecting through a codeshare agreement with Copa Airlines, ensuring continued access to the destination despite the suspension of non-stop flights.

Additionally, Iberia confirmed that its offices in Havana will remain open to assist customers. It is worth noting that, since February 9, operations had already been affected, requiring a technical stop in Santo Domingo for refueling on return flights to Madrid. The suspension applies exclusively to Cuba, while Iberia continues to operate the rest of its network as planned and is preparing for a record summer season with more than 21.4 million seats available.
