WestJet Cancels Planned Toronto–Medellín Route Launch. WestJet has cancelled the planned launch of its new international route between Toronto Pearson International Airport and José María Córdova International Airport, according to a recent schedule update. The airline had originally planned to operate the route from April 28 through October 24, 2026 using Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The schedule was later revised to operate only between June 25 and September 5, 2026 with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

However, the latest update to the reservation system confirms that the four-times-weekly service will no longer be launched. The flights were scheduled under flight numbers WS2590 and WS2591, with overnight departures from Toronto and morning return flights from Medellín. The route would have strengthened connectivity between Canada and Colombia during the peak summer travel season.

The cancellation marks a change in WestJet’s international expansion plans toward Latin America, a region where airlines continue adjusting capacity and schedules in response to market conditions and passenger demand. Although the airline has not officially disclosed the reasons behind the decision, the cancellation removes what would have been a new nonstop option between Toronto and Medellín, a market that has experienced growing demand in recent years driven by tourism, business travel, and visiting friends and relatives traffic between both countries.
