Emirates boosts air cargo operations in Argentina

Argentina’s Secretariat of Transport, under the Ministry of Economy, has authorized Emirates Argentina Branch to operate scheduled international air cargo services through Provision 3/2026, published in the Official Gazette. Specifically, the airline is granted exclusive rights with traffic freedoms up to the ninth freedom of the air —including domestic cabotage— and will deploy wide-body aircraft for these operations. This decision marks a significant step forward, as it notably expands the airline’s operational scope in the country while strengthening its strategic presence in the region.

In this context, the introduction of Emirates’ cargo fleet—recognized for its scale, efficiency, and modern technology—will directly enhance Argentina’s logistics capabilities. Moreover, the global reputation of its cargo division supports deeper integration into international supply chains. Therefore, the measure is expected not only to benefit large exporters but also to create new opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, enabling them to access global markets more efficiently and competitively.

Furthermore, the authorization is grounded in existing bilateral agreements between Argentina and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the Open Skies Memorandum of Understanding signed in Abu Dhabi in February 2025. As a result, the airline will enjoy broad operational flexibility, allowing it to connect Argentina with the UAE, third countries, and even domestic destinations. Consequently, the government’s Open Skies policy proves its effectiveness: it encourages the entry of new carriers, promotes route expansion, and ultimately strengthens air connectivity while supporting sustained growth in both cargo and passenger traffic.
